Summer Reading

dot.gif - 0.0 K For a lot of us, one of our favorite things to do during the summer is lay back in the sun and read a good book. Since the summer is just around the corner, the C&G staff has compiled a list of their favorite books for your reading enjoyment.

Anne - The Oz Series by Frank Baum. The series tells about the enchanted adventures of the people, the happenings in Oz, and the surrounding countries.

Tiffany - Women Who Run With the Wolves, by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. A major theme in this book is how all women have a wild spirit that they should listen to.

Grant - Sahara,by Clive Clussler. It's about some African dictators that are polluting the ocean, which will cause a catastrophic affect on the world.

reading.jpg - 20.2 K Laura - The Mists of Avalon, by Marrion Zimmer Bradley. It's about the people of King Arthur's time.

Ted - Tails of the North, by Jack London. It is a collection of short stories about Alaska and wilderness.

Jake - Silas Marner, by George Elliot. It is the story of a miser who loses his money and finds love.

Patt - Marx for Beginners, by Rius. Communism in comic book form. How much cooler can you get? The Satanic Verses, by Salman Rusdik. A classic tale of the battle between good and evil set in modern times.

Karen - The Color Purple, by Alice Walker. It's about a black girl who matures through the help of her friends and family.

Jacob - Shardik, by Richard Adams. The author also wrote Watership Down, so if you liked that, then this book is even better.

Brittany - It, by Stephen King. It's about a clown that lives in the sewers and kills little kids.

Bonnie - The Lost World, by Michael Crichton. This is the sequel to Jurassic Park.

Andrea - The Bridge Across Forever, by Richard Bach. It tells about the search for true love. It's a rad book.

Luke - Go Ask Alice, by Anonymous. A true diary of a teenage girl struggling with drug addiction. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams. Bring your towel. Seven Years in Tibet, by Heinrich Harrer. A true story of the first westerner to ever see the Tibeten interior.

Todd - I am Third, by Gale Sayers and Al Silverman. The story of Gale Sayers' life. A creed which he tried to live by is, "The Lord is first, my friends are second, and I am third."

Brenda - The Bell Jar, by Silvia Plath. A loosely autobiographical novel about the slow emotional collapse of a promising young woman. Also, anything by Hermann Hesse.

Jeff - Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr. Suess. It's about Sam I Am trying to get another guy to eat green eggs and ham.

Meagan - The Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan. A fantasy series of warlords, and witches; set in the time of the breaking of the world.

Derek -Unfortunately Derek is illiterate, so he won't be recomending any books.

Mike - Dune, by Frank Herbert. It's set 10,000 years in the future.

Jeremy - Caves of Steel, by Isaac Asmov. A Science Fiction and Mystery novel, in which everybody lives in cities below the ground. It takes place in New York.

Mr. Hardebeck - Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, by Robert Pirsig. It's about a man and his son traveling the back roads of America searching for sanity and philosophy. Also, The Tao of Pooh, by Ben Hoff. Taoism as explained by Winnie the Pooh.
