Making out in Lewis County

Imagine for a moment that you and your honey are alone...sweaty-palmed, giddy, kissing, and completely alone. Sounds fun huh? Now imagine that someone suddenly walks in on the two of you. How annoying! Don't you wish you had picked a better place to make out?

Location isn't just important in business, it's important in pleasure as well. That's why, just in time for Valentines' Day, a few experienced individuals have agreed to share their favorite and least favorite make out spots, so that you too can have a fun and safe make out session this holiday.

For privacy and comfort, nothing beats your (or your honey's) home. First off, there's all that soft and squidgy furniture. Senior Terry Chaney recommended "pieces of furniture starting with C'".

Secondly, there's the ability to change your environment to be as romantic as you want. Senior Jenny Davis likes to be "in a quiet room with all the lights turned out and music playing." And finally, assuming your parents or annoying little siblings aren't around, there is absolute privacy.

But there are some who prefer a more wild environment. Senior Jeff Granger said he liked "the natural surroundings of the woods," but added that "the bad part about the woods is I like nature so I get distracted."

Senior Adrian Manriquez also commended the woods, and said that he was "never distracted by nature." Adrian's favorite outdoors place was "definitely in a river or lake."

For the sensation of water without the cold or dirt, some may prefer hot tubs. "Hot tubs are good," said Granger,"because of the heat, the bubbles, and the water."

Another popular place was the car. Sophomore Adam Hart said,"I like cars, pick-ups especially." Adam said he wasn't too picky about where he parked his car, so long as it was "anywhere...that's not crowded."

Junior Randy Neil was a die-hard fan of cars, who apparently makes out no place else. Randi's favorite spots were "Stan Hedwall Park in Bryan's car, middle school in Bryan's car...to sum it up, in Bryan's car." Randi recommended that you avoid making out "in a car with a stick-shift; it gets in the way."

There are a few places that really should be avoided, such as school. Although a few people, such as junior Talia Wilson, thought "it's fun if you don't get caught," most agreed with Granger's opinion that "PDA is disgusting."

Another dud place is the movies. Junior Carey Chapin said "the seats are way too uncomfortable."

Temperature extremes can suck the romance out of making out as well. Senior Jennifer Patton said the romance is killed if you're stuck "outside in the cold."

Clearly, there are a few couples who have no problem with making out at dances...but none of them would admit it. Even though dances are dark people do see, and some get uncomfortable as a result. Junior Jessica Latunen said,"I hate it when people make out at dances. [someone should] tell them to knock it off and go somewhere else."

And believe it or not, the teacher chaperones don't fail to notice either. Mrs. Fairhead, WF. West librarian, has had to break up a few exhibitionist couples at dances. Fairhead said,"They were surprised and didn't think I could see."

Nurse Marilyn Fenn has also chaperoned at school dances, and she had a pretty relaxed attitude about couples who would make out. Fenn said, "I tried to make a joke out of it," when she had to break couples up. Fenn also said, "Other chaperones had a pretty relaxed attitude," about the kissing couples. Still, most students would rather NOT have to be broken up by a teacher, right?
