Fresh off a third place finish at the Dream Dual tourney in Auburn, the Bearcats are now looking toward state in the Tacoma Dome February 21st and 22nd. Head coach Denny Daniels said, "The program is part of the success. We are stronger throughout the line up this year."

Some think the team's reputation comes from having so many talented wrestlers on the team. Dustin Williams said, "We have good depth in our program, and we have a lot of people to fall back on. If someone can't wrestle, we have another excellent player to take their place."

Lann Olson said, "Our lower weights have improved a lot; and so, we have a really solid team all the way through."

From Tim Tobin's power at 101 lbs., to Dustin William's heavyweight record of 19-2; the Cats have rose to a higher level in the BHL. Coach Daniels said, "Tim Tobin has really come on strong this year. (He is 20-3). Josh Terry is 18-5 and is also doing extremely well."

Many wrestlers believe that part of the team's success comes from not letting their 16-1 record go to their heads. State veteran Leonard Wilson said, "A lot of us are really humble; and we don't let it [the team's record] go to our heads; so, we come into the match well-focused."

Many of the wrestlers also think that it is the team's ambition to be better and their devotion to that goal in practices that makes them a good team. Josh Terry said, "Everybody wants to work hard on the team."

Agreeing with Terry, Williams said, "I think it's our conditioning that makes us good. We also have a lot of talent to go along with that conditioning."

Because of the team's good reputation and some state experience, the students came to the matches ready to watch the Cats win the BHL. Terry said, "I think we're getting more support, because we're doing better this year."

Many believe the students responded with more enthusiasm once the team proved they could win. But some are just thankful to have a crowd cheering. Lann Olson said, "The student body has been really good with supporting us at our matches."

Though the Cats have succeeded in winning the league title, the wrestling season isn't over yet. Terry said, "The post-season is pretty much what everyone's looking forward to."
