DECA
Five members of DECA club drove to Portland International Airport on Friday, November 22nd. Andi Hill, Randi Neal, Erin Wright, Shane Porter, and Brian Raymor boarded a flight to San Diego for the Western Regional Conference. The club members listened to speakers, went to work shops, and took a trip to Sea World.
Walk & Knock
The annual Walk & Knock Food Drive will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7. Volunteers will begin picking up food at approximately 10 a.m. The food will go to needy families for the holiday season.
Knowledge Bowl
The W. F. West Knowledge Bowl Team placed 5th at the Evergreen College tournament that was held on November 16. This is the highest ranking that any Bearcat Knowledge Bowl team has achieved in four years. "It felt so good to beat Spencer Barlow," Said senior Joey Grant, who is co-captain of the team. Team captain Joseph Clinton added, "We have a pretty well rounded team. We compliment each other well."
Winter Music Concert
On Dec. 12 the W. F. West Music Dept. will have their annual Holiday Concert. The program will start at 7:30 p.m. in the gym. It will feature seasonal music from the band and festive songs performed by the choir.
Students of the Month
Each month, a few of the students of W. F. West High School are chosen by a teacher from each subject. The students are chosen for surpassing the expectations of their teachers.

Singing Christmas Tree
Once a year, in the midst of all of the holiday chaos, the people of the Centralia-Chehalis area, and a few visitors, come together to treat themselves to an evening of relaxing Christmas carols.
The Singing Christmas Tree of 1996 will be put on by , and will take place at Bethel Church. The first performance will be held on December 15th at 3:30 pm, and the next two will be on December 16th, 17th, and 18th at 7:30 p.m.
The Singing Christmas Tree is a anual event that includes a choir, an orchestra, and a chldren's choir.
Supporting Key Club
Six hundred dollars was recently donated to Key Club by the Kiwanis club.The money was donated to repay Key Club for helping out with the Kiwanis Fireworks stand. "Key Club and Kiwanis Club work together quite a bit," said Key Club advisor Thad O'Dell.
Key Club is a non-profit, community oriented group. They take part in many fund raisers to help raise money for sick and disadvantaged children. Key Club meets in room 311 on club mornings, and they encourage anyone interested to attend.
Santa Parade
The annual Santa Parade will be held on December 7th. The parade route will run down Market Street and right through the downtown area. The public is encouraged to come and enjoy the festivities.
Holiday Assembly
The Holiday Assembly will take place on December 13th after 3rd period. It will include plenty of live seasonal music, the Salvation Army's Toys and Joy Program and perhaps a few surprises.
Hugh O'Brien
Jenica Spogen was chosen to be W. F. West's representative at the Hugh O'Brien Leadership Conference. The conference will be held in Seattle and attracts student leaders from around Washington State.
Boxing Day
As you all know, Dec. 26th is Boxing Day, but only in Canada.
