Freshmen Boys' Basketball

It took the freshmen boys basketball team some time to adjust to their new coach Ken Hotko. They started out the season with a record of 0-2. Yesterday they battled with Camas at home.

They hope to beat Centralia on Monday the 11th at their home game. "Our defensive ball playing skills and the energy of being rivals will help us to beat them," said freshmen Spencer Buie. The game starts at 4:00 in the R.E. Bennett gym.

C-Team Boys' Basketball

This years boys' c-team is currently 2-1. They beat Capital on December 8th 49-40. Freshmen Sawyer Smith had 12 points and sophomore Kevin Reynolds had 12 rebounds. They also won their game against Eatonvile on December 11th 58-51, but not without the help of sophomore Josh Aselton who scored 21 points that game.

Monday January 11th they'll play Centralia at home, at 5:45 in the R.E. Bennett gym. "We hope revenge is sweet, they beat us our first game last year but not this time," said coach Rob Sande.

Boys' JV Basketball

The JV boys basketball team are 1-3 as of now, although the games were non-league. Sophomore Kyle Aselton said, "We're playing better as a team, if we do good in league it'll be a good season." Yesterday, the 7th, they had a home game with Camas. This Monday, the 11th, JV boys play at home where they'll take on Centralia at 5:45.

Girls' JV Basketball

The girls' JV basketball team is 2-3 this year so far. Tonight they have a game at Camas at 5:45. Freshman starting point guard Rachel Keen, has been the leading scorer in all the games so far. "High school basketball is a lot different from middle school basketball because it's more competitive and moves at a faster pace," she said. Next Tuesday the 12th they'll play Centralia at Centralia at 5:45 p.m.

Girls' Varsity Basketball

Starting this year the Lady Bearcats were 2-3, with more league games coming up. "I was really impressed with the junior transfer students we received. Resa Lee is a very physical post that knows how to rebound and score inside. Resa has had three offensive rebounds and a total of 11 points," said assistant coach Tim Kindle. "Freshmen Cassi Strobach is really athletic, her quickness helps us on defense along with the fact that she is able to handle the ball real well," he said.

Location Changes

As a result of the gym floor's water damage, home basketball games and wrestling matches will be moved to other locations. The girls' basketball games will be at Chehalis Middle School and the boys' games will be at Centralia College. Wrestling matches are tentatively scheduled for Chehalis Middle School, although the Bearcat Invite tomorrow will be in the W.F. West gym. Make sure to double check locations before you go.
