An accident that occurred on March 31, 1998 on Bishop Road eventually took the lives of two students- Jessica Perkins on April 7th and Leanna McNeice on April 11th.
Jessica Perkins, more commonly known as Jessica Booker was a student in the Chehalis School District up until last fall. She was described by friends as being creative, enjoying outdoor activities, loving animals, and having a beautiful smile. "She would do anything for her friends and family. She was always caring, never mean," said friend Rachel Hayes. "She was sweet, a real sweetheart," said friend Jennifer Dunham.
Leanna "Annie" McNeice was a junior here whose favorite things as described by friends included writing poetry, traveling, and making others happy. "No matter what kind of mood you were in, she would always brighten your day," said friend Jessie Walls. She was always thought of and will always be remembered as a kind person who could brighten a day and change a life. "What a tragedy that more people didn't know who she was. She was one of those people that after they're gone, a part of what they enriched in your lives is missing", said English teacher and friend Carol Ogden.
Both girls will be remembered as people who were generous and always happy. But more importantly, they will be remembered for loving life.
"They're going to be so missed. They were such happy people. You could hear them laughing before you could see them and you knew it was them. They always set everyone in a good mood," said Hayes.
