dot.gif - 0.0 K After another year of hard work and preparation, the Bearcat wrestlers have done it again. Following a successful trip to regionals, five W.F. West wrestlers headed to state on February 20th and 21st at the Tacoma Dome. "We didn't think we could top last year, but we did," said wrestling coach Denny "Doc" Daniels. Babka.jpg - 2.5 K

dot.gif - 0.0 K Senior Leonard Wilson won the championship match in the 178 weight class, as did senior Chris Babka at 215. Senior Josh Terry (141) finished sixth, senior Dustin Williams finished eighth (275), and sophomore Ramon Coronel (135) won his first match, but lost later in the tournament. dot.gif - 0.0 K The Bearcats received fifth place. "If it wasn't for Josh's injury, we would have gotten fourth by one point," Daniels said. Terry forfeited to accept sixth place because of an injury he sustained in a previous match.

dot.gif - 0.0 K Overall, Wilson feels that the trip to Tacoma was a successful one. "I feel relieved that it's over with," he said. He also wants to say "thanks a lot to all the people who came to support us. We wouldn't have been able to do it without them."
