Rogue River drift boat |
The unique configuration of the Rogue River drift boat is often a puzzle to the casual observer: If you keep in mind that the transom end faces upriver, and that the pilot is rowing against the current to maintain control while drifting downriver, the practicality of the design becomes readily apparent.
Because of its lightness, beauty, and superb handling, the HEADWATER 14 has gained the attention of some of the best known guides and outdoorsmen in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada, and was featured in a video produced by one of the major manufacturers of fishing tackle.
For extended use in calm water, the HEADWATER 14 can be fitted with one or more extra sets of oarlocks and rowed conventionally. The generous beam and side flare of its hull makes the HEADWATER 14 quite forgiving of less than skillful handling.
