Where do I go to start gaming?

There are many companies on the web that supply the network for gaming software. They are mostly all pay sites that provide proprietary software for you to play with them. The average price you have to pay is about $25 for lifetime unlimited use.

Here is a short list of some of the places available on the web:

http://www.kali.net
http://www.zone.com (requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.X and Windows 95)
http://www.ten.net
http://www.ariesgames.com
http://www.battle.net
http://www.games-online.com
http://www.altus-software.com/kali.html (for Macintosh)
http://www.outland.com (for Macintosh)

How do I begin gaming?

This is how you would go about setting up with Kali gaming. Each one will be a little different but this is how you begin with Kali.
*NOTE* In order to play Kali for longer than 15 minutes you must have the program registered. Most gaming sites have this in force.

  1. First go to Kali's home page at www.kali.net and download the program needed for your specific computer. Refer to our download page here to learn how to download a program. For purposes of reference I will show you how to set up kali using a windows 95 machine.
  2. After you have downloaded the program you need to get back on Kali's home page and follow the links to where it speaks about registering the program. It costs a one-time $20 fee payable through credit card. After you have given the credit card number they will email you your identification number and password. DO NOT DELETE THIS EMAIL.
  3. Now that you have your registration number and the program that you downloaded you are ready to install the program. Find the file you have downloaded on your hard drive and double click on it. This will start the installation process. The first screen that will appear will state "This will install kali 95, Do you wish to continue?" Click yes.
  4. Next you will get a couple of screens, the first will have to do with welcoming you to this great product. Click next to continue. The next screen to be presented will be the license agreement on the product usage. Click next to continue. The next screen will ask you where you want to install the software. Leave it the way they have it set and hit next. Finally you will be asked to click next and the setup process will begin.
  5. After it is all installed you need to go to your start button in the bottom right of the screen and click on it. Move the mouse up to programs and then to the "kali95." Click on Kali95 and it will boot up the program
  6. The first time you boot up it will say "Your kali user information is not complete! We will enter that now..." click ok and move on to the next screen. It will look something like this.
  7. After you have entered your information (refer to the registration email you will receive from Kali). You will be presented with a screen that looks like this. It will be asking you if the program can search your hard drive for the programs that it needs to play on Kali. Some of the games that Kali supports are: Diablo, MechWarrior 2, Descent, Descent II, Warcraft, Warcraft II, Mercenaries etc.
  8. After the program finds all of the files you have on your computer that Kali recognizes you are ready to begin. You should see a screen that looks something like this. You need to select a server on the top left of the screen and then click on the button that says, "Connect to Kali Server." This will connect you to the server that you have selected.
  9. If you wish you can just join a game that is currently in progress by finding the game title on the bottom left window and double clicking on it (click here for a picture). Then, when you have selected the game, click on the box that says ready to launch. This will enable you to join the game when the operater of the game site decides it's time to play.

Again, these instructions were only for the proprietary software of Kali. Almost every gaming company requires you to have their software to play games. The game server company that you decide to go with will have all of the instructions for you in a well designed format.

Good luck!
