About Our Kindergarten:
St. Joseph School offers a full-day kindergarten, Monday
through Friday. The Archdiocesan approved kindergarten curriculum provides
opportunities for academic, spiritual, physical, and social development.
A typical day for a St. Joseph School kindergartner begins with prayer
and a religion lesson. Students learn about Our Lord through stories, discussion,
song and projects. The morning continues with math, a time for active exploration
and workbook activity. The children then move on to penmanship and phonics
lessons. After lunch, there is time for quiet music and rest. Afternoons
include a reading lesson, story time and related story projects, and exploration
through various learning centers. Reading lessons involve alphabet and
word recognition skills, songs and poems, small group games and activities,
and group reading. Some afternoons include science and art projects. Music,
computer education, and physical education are also a part of the kindergarten
curriculum. Children must be 5 years of age by August 31st in order
to register for kindergarten.
