Fr. Tuan's bulletin letter February 10
Dear Parishioners:
We would like to thank the many members of  our faith community for taking time to attend the Vigil  and Funeral services for Lusio Solis Palacios at Sacred Heart in Winlock. We thank Fr. Jerry Woodman for reaching out to care for the family and we thank the community who contributed financial support and prayer for Lusio and his family at this time.
We thank Fr. Ralph Carney and Fr. John McLaughlin who filled in for me  at daily and weekend Masses while I was away. I deeply appreciate Fr. Jerry Woodman and all the priests and the staff who worked extra hard to keep all things moving while I was away. Thanks so much for them and please continue to pray for their ministry,
We thank the people who participated in the  Religious Education  training this Saturday. This Leadership Workshop is for those who are interested in the future planning for our many Religious Education/Faith Formation, Youth and Sacramental Programs. It is important for our parishes. I thank  you for taking time to attend this  workshop. I thank the Archdiocese staff for being with us for this special Leadership Workshop. Thanks to Anne Kettenring, who assisted us in organizing this event. May the Lord continue to bless all those who are involved in the Faith Formation for all six parishes as they continue to learn and share their faith with us.
We are proud to have Tom Enbody, a  teacher at St. Joseph School, selected to attend a workshop for “Space in the Classroom” in Sacramento, California.  This teacher was selected from 25 teachers in Catholic Schools in the Seattle Archdiocese to attend this workshop. He will return to the classroom with a lot of new ideas to share with his students.  Please continue to pray for our teachers and continue to support their ministry.
Please come and join us in celebrating Ash Wednesday as we begin the season of  Lent and prepare for Easter. You have received the information from the church to help you participate fully in this season.  Lent is a season to pray, to fast, to do the work of charity and almsgiving .
Lent is also the period of time to prepare the Catechumens and Candidates. Please join the Catechumens and Candidates in their journey as they prepare to join us in full communion and receive the Sacrament of Initiation at Easter Vigil.
I will be attending the Religious Education Congress in California February 14 – 17. The theme of this convention and workshop is “Gift Overflowing a World,
Transformed”,  in Spanish “Don Derramado Mundo
Transformado”. Please continue to pray for me during this time of the convention and for all the people the Archdiocese sent to this workshop to gather information and share with the Faith Formation and the Deanery they represent.
Fr. Jerry Woodman will be away for his Spanish Language Program at San Antonio, Texas from February 18 – March 8. Please keep him in your prayers and may God continue to bless Fr. Jerry during this time of learning the language and the culture. He will have more to share with the Hispanic Community when he comes back from this special training.
We thank Fr. John McLaughlin who joined with the Golden Fellowship members, the Young at Heart, to celebrate Mass on February 7. May God continue to bless Fr. John and all the members of Golden Fellowship and Young at Heart. The Young at Heart come together monthly to worship and to share fellowship with one another at the luncheon following Mass.
The Hispanic Community is having a retreat for leaders and ministers this Sunday. Please keep them in your prayers.  I thank all the leaders who assisted Sr. Luz Maria in the areas of Faith Formation, Bible Study, Choir, and Liturgical Ministry. May God bless them at this time of retreat with one another, to pray and reflect and to nurture each other.
I will give the presentation to the RCIA program on Moral and Ethical Teachings of the Catholic Church. If you are interested in this theme, please join me and the RCIA Catechumens and Candidates on February 11 at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph Hall.
On February 14 the Catechumens, Candidates , godparents and sponsors will gather around the Archbishop  for the Rite of Election at Sacred Heart, Lacey. Please continue to pray for all the people in this program on this day of celebration. The Archbishop will officially welcome them, they will sign their name and he will pray with them and for them during their time of discernment. They have been elected from us to be presented to the Archbishop on this day.
May you have a Happy Valentine’s Day with your spouse, those who are about to commit to each other and those who celebrate an anniversary of love with each other.  May your spouse make your Valentine Day be meaningful and lovely.
May you have a wonderful week ahead. You are in my daily prayers.

Sincerely, yours in Christ,
