STUDIO INFORMATION
Instruments Taught: Piano, Organ
Teaching Level: Beginner - Advanced, all ages
Teacher Year: September through May. Christmas and Spring breaks coincide with public schools.
Summer Lessons: June and July
LESSON INFORMATION:
Teaching Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Lessons: Private half hour lesson each week with small group lesson the last week of the month instead of the private lesson.
Practice Policy: Students are given a stamped practice schedule which must be filled out and singed by a parent. Practice requirements vary from 3 hours each week for beginners to 5 hours per week for high school students.
Teaching Materials: I use a variety of methods, Faber & Faber, Alfred, Bastien along with supplemental books and sheet music to include special interests of the student.
Studio Facility: Large studio in my home.
Recitals: We have two recitals each year, one at Christmas which is a sharing time for students and family members to perform and a more formal one at the end of the year, usually in June. Students are required to perform in the recitals. Students are also encouraged to participate in the LCMTA Play-A-Thon and Ribbon Festival and the WSMTA Adjudications.
TEACHER INFORMATION:
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching for over 40 years and have coached and accompanied students in A.C.E. state and national competition.
Musical Experience: I started piano lessons at age 16, studied piano and organ at Multnomah College in Portland; also studied with Ken Kimball at Centralia College while taking theory and music history courses and currently study with Robin Chadwick. I am the choir, children's choir and bell choir director at Mt. View Baptist Church, play for church services, weddings, funerals, and special events. I am also a member of the Pacific NW Chamber Orchestra.
