TEACHER BIOGRAPHY

Teaching Experience: I have taught some form of music since before I received my Bachelor’s degree in 1950. I have taught band, choir, and classroom music in elementary and secondary schools. I have also taught music theory, piano and organ in college. At the present time, I am semi-retired and am only teaching my first love: PIANO to Elementary through High School age students during one day in the week—Tuesdays.

Performing Experience: I have been a church organist for approximately 50 years for various faiths, and I have concertized on the piano, organ and marimba throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. As a child I won various contests in singing and piano performance.

Educational Background: I started taking piano lessons at age 9, clarinet at 12, violin at 15, organ at 18, marimba at 38, and general percussion at 45. I have a Bachelor's Degree from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver in Denver, CO, and a Master's Degree in Music Education and Piano Performance from Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA.

Professional Affiliations:

Artistic Statement: When I was at the University I belonged to Mu Phi Epsilon, a national music sorority. The motto for this organization is "Music is the noblest of all the arts." I agree. Nothing on this earth has brought me more joy especially when it is shared with other performers. Besides teaching I get extra enjoyment from accompanying, playing duets, two-piano, and chamber music.
