A source of income is required. (Wages, Pension, Welfare, Child Support, Etc.) Chapter 13 allows for reduction in monthly payments to creditors or an extended time in which to repay the debts in a affordable manner. Court controls administration costs. Provides protection from garnishments, repossessions, foreclosures, creditor contracts and lawsuits. May stop interest, cancels unwanted contracts, protects co-signers and equity-savings.
