Classes At Centralia College

Daytime For-Credit Classes
     Centralia College has recently instituted the new field of instruction titled "Allied Health Care."   Allied Health Care for-credit classes are offered to provide an additional source of healthcare-related instruction and current information on techniques and services that are a growing part of the Complementary or Integrative Medicine landscape, but are not included in the current Health, Health Services and Nursing curricula.  Allied Health Care classes are taught on the Centralia College campus; see their Class Schedule for location and time for classes provided each quarter.


Evening Non-Credit Classes/Continuing Education
     As a part of the Continuing Education Department of Centralia College (Centralia, WA), classes are designed to promote learning activities within the community, and to offer opportunities for students of all ages to gain knowledge and understanding in a wide variety of topics.  Classes are informal in nature and there are no tests, quizzes or grades.  Questions are encouraged and the structure of classes is both lecture with overhead slides and experiential with students actively taking part in hands-on demonstrations of each healing technique discussed.  Unless otherwise indicated below or on the "Calendar of Events" page, all Centralia College classes will be taught at Evergreen Healing Arts Center, 500 SE Washington Ave., Chehalis, WA .  The Instructor for these classes is Howard Batie, Director of Evergreen Healing Arts Center in Chehalis, WA.  Call 360-748-7287 for driving instructions, or see the "Driving Directions" page.

Healing with the Human Energy Field
    This Centralia College class is taught each Quarter at Evergreen Healing Arts Center in three parts; with each part completed in a single 8-hour day.  The cost for the series of all three parts is a real bargain at only $90.  Advanced registration is required, and payment can be made by check, cash or credit card to Centralia College (call 360-736-9391, ext. 331 for registration details).  Suggested text for all three Parts is Healing Body, Mind & Spirit (ISBN 0-7387-0398-2) by Howard  Batie.  This book was selected as the Best Alternative Health Book published in the US in 2003, and is used as a reference textbook for Nurses' Continuing Education classes.  It is available at a discounted rate when you sign up for a class at Evergreen Healing Arts Center.

Part 1 - The Human Energy Field.  The Human Energy Field is discussed and described in terms of acupuncture meridians, chakras (energy centers on the body), and the five overlapping energy bodies that comprise the human aura (physical, etheric, emotional, mental and spiritual).  Students will learn how to sensitize their hands and fingers so they can locate and feel the energy of chakras and the subtle energy bodies.  Students are also taught how to use a pendulum to gain energetic information from the chakras.  Six of hours instruction.  Prerequisites: None.

Part 2 - Introduction To Energy Healing.  Recent trends in alternative therapies are discussed from the perspective of the American Medical Association and also the National Institutes of Health.  The nature and causes of both disease and health are presented from the perspective of the Human Energy Field.  Learn how energy-based healing techniques significantly reduce pain and accelerate the healing process for both traumatic and chronic conditions.  Experience and learn how to provide healing energies using three different modalities: Reiki, Healing Touch, and Karuna Reiki.  Each technique is demonstrated in the class with student participation.  You will be taught several Healing Touch techniques that you can use to rapidly remove pain and accelerate physical healing for yourself and for others.  Learn how to prepare for healing sessions and how to incorporate energy healing into your nursing/caregiving routine.  Ten hours of instruction.  Prerequisites:  Part 1 or Instructor's permission.

Part 3 - Advanced Healing Techniques.  Become acquainted with advanced energy-based healing techniques that specifically address the higher levels of the Human Energy Field.  Advanced Healing Touch procedures address the physical and etheric bodies to promote physical healing.  Hypnotherapy, Regression Therapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and Ro-Hun Transformational Therapy are discussed and compared in their ability to bring about healing on the mental and emotional levels (release of emotional issues and "baggage").  Specific techniques that address the spiritual energy body --  the Inner Light Consciousness Meditation technique, Ultra-Height® and Life Between Lives Therapy -- are discussed and demonstrated as appropriate.  Eight hours of instruction.  Prerequisite: Part 2.

Reiki I For Caregivers
     Each Reiki I class provides attunements, instruction and practice in the use of both Japanese and Western styles of Reiki.  Once attuned, the student is able to immediately transfer this gentle but very powerful healing energy through their hands.  Instruction is provided to allow the caregiver to transfer this healing energy for removal of pain, acceleration of healing after an injury or disease, and to restore health and energetic balance on all levels of their being.  The history of Reiki as a healing technique is discussed, and practice time is allowed for the student to become familiar with the way healing energy feels as it is transferred to another person.  Reiki is an ideal and very effective technique for relaxation, healing and overall balancing, and is safe for use on all living things -- humans, animals and plants; it is also safe for use on people of all ages from newborns to elders.  No prior knowledge of healing techniques is needed, and a very complete step-by-step manual will be provided.  Cost of the class is $150, and it will be taught by Howard Batie, Reiki Master-Teacher.  Suggested text is "The Spirit of Reiki: The Complete Handbook of the Reiki System" by Walter Lübeck, Frank Petter and William Rand.

Self-Hypnosis For Relaxation
     Are you over-stressed and can’t relax?  Hard to get to sleep at night?  Wake up and can't get back to sleep?  Then this class is for you!  An introduction to the basic principles and elements of hypnosis is provided to acquaint you with both the capabilities and the limitations of the practice of hypnotism.  You’ll be guided to experience progressively deeper states of relaxation through both guided imagery techniques and hypnotic suggestions, ultimately resulting in a very deep state of hypnotic self-relaxation.  You'll also be instructed in safe and effective procedures to achieve this state of deep relaxation all by yourself whenever needed.  No prior hypnosis experience is required.  Classes are normally taught on the second Saturday of each month from 9 am to 5 pm at Evergreen Healing Arts Center in Chehalis, WA by Howard Batie.  He is a Certified Hypnotherapist by the National Guild of Hypnotists and is Registered with the Washington State Department of Health.  Cost is $70, and pre-registration is required.  Call 360-748-7287 to register.  Classes are small, and pre-payment guarantees your reservation.

"Healing Touch in the Home" Training

    Healing Touch in the Home uses the same nine specific Healing Touch techniques found in Healing Touch for use at home on family and friends to reduce pain, release stress and anxiety, and to accelerate the healing process.   These techniques require no medical training, and are very easy for anyone to learn (my grandchildren really like to use the ones that quickly take away pain!).  Healing Touch in the Home is preferably taught in to workshops of 4 hours each, but both parts can be combined for a full 8-hour day of instruction if required.  Classes cost $70 per person for each session, payable in full prior to or at the first class.  All Healing Touch in the Home workshops are held at Evergreen Healing Arts Center in Chehalis, WA, unless otherwise noted.

    Healing Touch in the Home is taught in a series of two sessions (Levels I and II are combined into one session):
        Level I - Basic Pain Management Techniques (2 hours)
        Level II - Stress and Anxiety Release Techniques (2 hours)
        Level III - Advanced Healing Techniques (4 hours)

Healing Arts Lecture Series

     The Healing Arts Lecture Series is a series of informative 1 to 2-hour lectures on a specific subject that are designed to provide both introductory and more in-depth information on that subject.  The topics will consist of those energy healing techniques and therapies that are offered at the Evergreen Healing Arts Center.  The format for these lectures is informal, and is usually a combination of presentation of information (lecture with overhead transparencies) and experiential demonstration of the technique using a volunteer from the audience as the subject.  Contact the Director at hbatie@localaccess.com or 360-748-7287 if you would like to schedule an lecture/demonstration.  Topics that are available for presentation include:

Reiki Practice Sessions

    Students who have received at least the First Level Reiki attunements from any school of Reiki are welcome to attend the practice sessions held at Evergreen Healing Arts Center at 7-9 pm, normally on  Thursdays of each month, except the fifth Thursday if there is one.  Currently, the first and third Thursdays of each month are for Level I Reiki practitioners, and we practice primarily the hand position sequence taught by Mrs. Takata and the hand scanning techniques taught by Dr. Usui.  The second and fourth Thursdays of each month is for sharing and wide-ranging discussions among my students for all levels of Reiki, Healing Touch, Kathara Healing, and other energy healing techniques offered at Evergreen Healing Arts Center. This is a great way to continue networking within the healer community.  There is no charge for this service. 


Personalized Healing Instruction

    For many chronic diseases and conditions, several energy healing sessions may be required over an extended period of time.  Instead of coming in for repeated healing sessions, it may be more convenient and less expensive to become trained in a few specific healing techniques that can be administered at home whenever required.  Personalized one-on-one instruction in specific healing techniques and pain management and anxiety release techniques is available to care givers and family members of clients who require a long-term energy healing program.  See a further description of the Touch Therapy healing techniques that anyone can easily learn.  Contact the Evergreen Healing Arts Center for further information on this program.

ILC Meditation Classes

    The ILC Meditation technique was developed by the late Rev. Paul Solomon of Virginia Beach, VA.  For more information about Paul, visit the Paul Solomon Foundation website at www.paulsolomon.com.  Meditation classes are kept small (10 or fewer people per class) to allow a thorough discussion of all aspects of the technique.  Each student is provided with a CD which provides the guided visualization to be used during your meditation.  The cost is $45 for the ILC Meditation workshop, and the CD and instructions for its use is included in this price.  Contact the Director, Evergreen Healing Arts Center for registration details or for additional information.
